At Mitchell Williams, we believe it is our essential responsibility to play an active, positive role in the communities in which we work and live. Our Take Time To Give program is the firm’s community service initiative that provides support to civic and charitable organizations through financial contribution, volunteer hours, and pro bono legal services. This site is dedicated to the nonprofits in our communities. Take some time to explore and learn more about the positive changes these organizations are making. Established in 1984, AFN procures and distributes food to more than 450 member agencies, including food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters and after-school feeding programs, in 33 central and southern Arkansas counties. It is a member of Feeding America (formerly America’s Second Harvest), a Heart of Arkansas United Way and the Arkansas Hunger Relief Alliance. The organization provides food for approximately 23,000 individuals in any given week and distributed almost 11 million pounds of food in 2008.
The organization received a significant financial contribution in addition to pro bono legal services and volunteer participation from the firm throughout the year, which included the annual National Association of Letter Carriers Food Drive, Today’s THV Summer Cereal Drive: Business Edition, its Golf For Food tournament, and established Mitchell Williams Friends & Family Volunteer Days. The firm is a sponsor of its Harvester’s 2010 Empty Bowls art auction event.
AFN is in the final phase of its $14.5 million capital campaign to build a 77,808-square foot facility that will allow the organization to distribute a projected 17 million pounds of food the network will need for hungry Arkansans by 2011.
