High School students can enter their poems and participate in the Ekphrastic Poetry Slam on February 25 at 3:30 p.m. Cash prizes will be awarded to winning students and their teachers.

Formal Poetry (written poetry) Guidelines:

•Poems must be submitted online via the registration form by February 11, 2012.
•Poems must be inspired by a work of art in the Arkansas Arts Center collection.
•Poems must not exceed 24 lines.
•Winners will be selected to read their poems on February 25 at the Poetry Competition.

Slam Poetry (performed poetry) Guidelines:

•Competitors have a total of three minutes to present their original poem.
•Poems must be inspired by a work of art in the Arkansas Arts Center collection.
•High School students should have three separate poems prepared.
•Registration deadline is February 18, 2012.
